Can anyone tell me if the transportation problems were addressed last year in Mississauga?  I ran the half in 2006 and the system they had in place to shuttle runners back to the starting line (hotel) was horrible.  We skipped the run last year because of this, and are hoping that things were better last year.

Thanks.

It was horrible for the half in 2006.  Last year I ran the full and it was no problem, we hopped right on a bus with no waiting.  There were two girls I travelled with that caught the half  bus with no difficulty but they both ran 1:40's so I'm not sure if you're in the "bulk" of finishers in that 2-2:30 like I was in '06 how it was.

Last year I walked the half  with my mom (finishing in 3:30) and had no problems catching a bus at all.

hmmm...two replies but unfortunately the question is still unanswered!  Yes Sandy, I was in the "bulk" of finishers (2:08) in 2006.   Perhaps Janet and her  mom had no problem BECAUSE they walked, and were kind of "late" finishing...so maybe in this situation it's not an advantage to be "average"?  Anyone else have comments?  I really want to do this race (half) because I'm doing the full in Ottawa and it works perfectly with my training program.  But I don't want to go through what I went through in '06...I'd rather do a 13 mile run here at home!

Thanks for your replies!

Forest City runs the same day in London and has no bussing issues.  We had a number of runners last year that did that race and raved about it.  One note is it is smaller then mississauaga but they got lovely shirts and great medals.

Hey Belleville Runner there is a new race being run right in our own backyard.  It too would be a great training run in prep for Ottawa.  It is being held on the 27 April....The Wingnut Half.  It promises to be very challenging, no buses needed, and you can sleep in your own bed the night before.

I would check the runningmania forum.  I'm sure there are a few reviews from last years race.

That's a good idea Shannon!  I did a search of the race reports and found this page with several of them -

http://www.runningmania.com/forum/search.php?search_id=1328794954&start=30

Hopefully that works and takes you to my search results.  Nobody mentioned the buses that I could see by quickly skimming the reports.  They also have event reviews on there but unfortunately they are from 2006.

The other thing you could do is post on the Runningmania forum asking if anyone encountered problems with the buses last year.  I guarantee you will get feedback.  The Runningroom forum is another one where you might get some feedback - since it seems most people from this area avoided Mississauga last year.
