On Saturday Sept 8th was the running of the trail races in the Haliburton forest.
In the line ups for the day were the 25k the 50k and the 50 and 100 milers.Congratulations to all who ran the beautiful and challenging courses.
In the 50 miler Derrick Spafford came in 2nd overall with a time of 8:26:32. and his running buddy and wife Sara Montgomery ran the 50k in an impressive time of 5:29:38 , landing her in the 4th overall and 1st woman in.
I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with them at Ganaraska this year.Incredible athletes the pair of them.Job well done.

I will see them again this year as me and the Ruth will be running the Sydenham 8k.

Congrats once again guys on a spetacular race.

Wow, that IS impressive!

So Dave, if you were there, did you run?  And how did you do?

Thanks folks.  The trails there are truly awesome!  From what I see about your group runs, I know you'd love it there.

It was great watching the 100milers come in.  So inspiring.  Was my first crack at a 50miler, and must say I'm bitten by the bug.  Sandy, you are partially responsible for that too from reading about your 100.  Looking forward to the next one, and then maybe a 100 in the next year or two.  Still have a lot to learn about this ultra stuff, especially race nutrition....but found Sandy's articles very helpful.

Hope everyone has a great fall season!

Isn't 80k a great distance?  Enough to be challenging but not so far you need crew.  Not that I don't love my crew but it becomes awful imposing on them.  I'd offer to crew for your 100 miler Derrick but I wouldn't be able to keep up with you.  Maybe they'd let me ride my MB!!!  Looking forward to seeing you both at the Fat Ass.
