So, in my last run (today) I came to 2 conclusions.
1) A smile on your face while running makes you run faster.  I'd guess at least 20 seconds a mile.
2)  I either started running very, very slowly, or, if I wore my fast shoes (20 seconds a mile faster) and did all the things I know make me faster at exactly the same time, I could theoretically run approximately 40 seconds/mile faster than the speed of light.

Try the smile thing and you'll see what I mean.

Regret nothing, even the bad parts contributed to your arrival in this spot, and if dirt is down, then you're still winning.  Keep racing.

I agree with you 100% even though I have not mastered the "smile" at all.    I have a face of pure agony when I run.    This is a work in progress for me because I have committed to increasing  my speed this year.
I know that Uta (not sure of the spelling of her name) has always got a huge smile on her face when she runs.   She runs like the wind without any effort,  or at least it looks like that.
I asked her how she does it and she said she really feels good when she runs and is really happy.  She makes plans for her day and thinks about everything that's going on in her life.

Thanks for your good advice
