Wow, it seems to be a run weekend for sure. With all of the post winter races going on, i wish the best to everybody who laced them up this weekend.
Including in all of the running madness was the 2007 Ganaraska 25 & 50k race held on saturday the 12th.
I must be getting forgetful as it slipped my mind on how hilly this run really is..wow!!..With over 100 runners, shivering in the early morning air, the race directer Daniel Boon, was in a bit of a fix, being denied insurance on friday night, but after an hour we were on our way..finally gonna get warm...yahoo..
The Ganny holds a little for everybody, as the grass turns to path, and before you can blink..yep..your running up a sand doon...more than one..hehehe evil..i dont really know an easy way to run in sand. With a hill of about 60 degrees, and up to your laces in sand...suck it up and walk..cuz your not going anywhere by running in it...haha...lots grumbled, but i laughed.. grin..
This glorious forest will tax you, the hills are massive and plentiful, and the downs are cliffs. The technical aspect of this run is evedent in all of the roots, rocks, and oh the cliffs...haha..if your not alert you will face plant. The run also allows you the opportunity to make up for lost time, if you wish..on a multitude of wood chip trails..awesome to run on..loved it!!..If the beauty of this forest wasnt enough, the great volunteers offer a well stocked aid station, lots of them..mmmmm, jube jubes...great people, i thanked every one of them...through the cheek packed jube jube lips... cheesy cheesy..
I ran the 25k in 2:27..and my red necked scottish bud Brian did the 50k..he did a great job at 5:15..wow!...
With over 125 runners and ski pole walkers, this run gives you the option to have a social yappy run ( like i did)..or gallop on your own on this well marked challenging course..either way, this run is a 2 thumbs up event... grin grin...
                                 like they say...play dirty..run trails..

Looks like you had a great race Dave!  Definately a tough course, but also one of the most beautiful courses we've run.  Ideal racing conditions...actually wore gloves until about 14km.

Was funny.....we were on our way on Friday afternoon in good time when we realized we forgot to check what time the race started on Saturday morning (rookie mistake).  Luckily, we remembered before we reached Trenton and made a quick detour to TriandRunSports where someone (sorry...didn't get her name) checked the start time for us.  Thank's so much!  After picking up a few gels and bars, we were happily on our way again.

This was the second year Sara and I have run the race.  Strange as our times were very similiar to last year, but we ran the race totally different.  We were probably in better 'running' shape this year, but had done less 'strength' (ie. hill training).  Those hills certainly tickled.  All fun though.

He didn't get injured AND he didn't get hurt!  A double blessing!  Sounds like it was a great event, even if it was challenging.  So how did they get around the insurance problem, Dave????

Hey guys..thanks..
And Spaff..the way you run who could tell??..you and Sara are incredible athletes, i was glad to meet you guys, but unfortunately after running a race im a little dense and stuck for words...NO NEED TO SEE A COMENT FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY!!..lol...but it was a beautiful day.I hope you and Sara come again next year, your too fast for me..but Sara??..hehe..this could be fun.. evil..
I never got hurt, injured..OR LOST!!..hahaha..finally!!..ummm..Jane ..insurance..well..he was scurrying around in a panic, through some close acquaintances that we were standing with it appears that it wasn't fully paid last year, some sort of nasty business, but however, the local MPP, and the owner of the Horseshoe valley resort resolved the problem, well enough to allow us to run.Thank goodness, seeing as some people , me included had to invest in this event..lost wages from travel Friday, and accommodations, and so on..so, it was on and we got happy very fast... grin...see??..
