Cathy, Heather, Shannon, Sue and I just finished our 21K LSD not even an hour ago. We started at about 2:30 -- AFTER it had been snowing since about 10 a.m. It took us three hours to run 21K. It was probably the toughest run physically that I have done in a long time - at the end my legs felt comparable to how they did at the end of my marathons. I could barely move.... I can't believe we actually didn't bail at 8K or 10K or whatever. There were barely any times that we could actually run where we weren't wading through snow or sliding around in that greasy slush on the road (which was harder than the wading). Fortunately we had one thing going for us - it wasn't REALLY REALLY cold for a change. And we had some really good food too - cheese things, jelly bellys, graham s'mores - after all - isn't it all about the food? Finished up with chocolate milk and stretching on my living room floor.
I've run ATB twice. It was not as hard as what we ran today. I don't even thing the Fat Ass was as bad. If days like today build character, well then the five of us are Superwomen!!
Photos to follow.... after I eat.

RRRRRR.... I just did my whole post and LOST IT!!! Will try to do it again! We started out our 21K run in the middle of a snowstorm. Lake effect snow is nothing to be messed with! Our first stop, for a stretch and potty break, after about 4K was at the Tim's on the base..... My right side of my face was all coated with snow from running down RCAF Rd. That is NOT something coming out of Heather's nose, but a snowflake in front of her face! It was brutal running through the PMQs into the wind. I tried to distract the group by asking what they thought killed Anna Nicole Smith..... I think it worked. After this, there was quite the space where we were concentrating on running, rather than taking photos. We stopped at Mac's Milk on Sidney Street, where Shannon had to ask the guy working the cash to help her because she couldn't get her pants untied. Headed off down West street where we had to fight for a space on the road. About 6K from the end, we found ourselves at City Hall - our Tuesday night meeting place!! We decided to gel for the third and final time. Shannon was having a hard time finding her happy face at this point. She did only promise it for the first hour, so she did good! Think Carboom would let Heather promote their product??? And here is part of the group advertising for the City of Quinte West. I wonder if this photo would entice many people to come and run 21K here in February??? This is what most of the sidewalks were like: Well, it wasn't Tim's but the chocolate milk at our house afterwards tasted pretty good. And besides, you can't do this on the floor at Tim's!

YES WE ARE! We rocked guys! I'm proud of everyone. That was extremely tough. It's funny, when you look at the pictures, we look like we are having a blast out there. Obviously we weren't taking pictures of the low moments. Here is Sue, at the beginning of the run, I think this was at 3K. Here is the gals, just before Tim Hortons: Clearly we are having way too much fun: Here is when we decided to have some yummies and a gel, it looks like Heather is signalling "talk to the hand"! Let me explain this pic, when we stopped at MACs to have a pee, I discovered I couln't get out of my pants as I had too many knots. Granted, I wouldn't be a good sailer. So, anyways, I had to humbly walk over to the cashier there and ask for scissors. I wish I could of asked him for assistance to get my pants off because that would of sounded more funny. He just sort of tossed me the scissors, Maybe I wasn't lookin so enticing with my sweaty face and stuff. Oh well, at least my pants didn't fall down for the remainder of the run. After we finished our gruelling 21K run, we had to put the paddles to Sue; CLEAR! Naaa, Jane had this really cool thing that helps the muscles with electrodes or something like that. Thank you Jane and Heather for letting us stretch out in your living room, and lending us dry socks, and filling our bellies with chocolate milk!! I think you should convert a room to a studio! Thank you ladies for the run. I had my epsom salt bath, and I have a full belly. I also did lots of more stretching. I'm looking forward to a full nights sleep! Would of never done it without you's!

Congratulations guys! Sounds like you had way too much fun! Like you said Jane, ATB is a piece of cake compared to that.
Way to go.

Yes, we did have alot of fun. But we do have to learn not to run with scissors. LOL
Thanks ladies for the great pictures again. I did not have a pocket to put my camera in what with missing the one the gel broke in. Bummer that was.
I am not sure how I will cope next weekend just doing 10k. What is the weather supposed to be??? Are there wind chills in effect or just tons of snow? We won't know how to run on dry pavement.

It looks ok for the weekend. I don't know when I will be running my 10K, as I'll be in Toronto for the weekend. Maybe after I get home on Sunday....

Jane and Shannon the pictures were great. I must admit it sure does look like we were having fun. Some of the run it was too much concentrating not to end up on the ground because of the snow and slush, but we made it. My leg is still sore today. I stretched again last night and again tonight, so hopefully it will feel better tomorrow before our next run. Thanks to Shannon, Jane, Cathy and Heather for making the run much more enjoyable then if I had been alone. I know if I had run alone, I would never would have made it the whole 21k because I know I would have bailed. Susan P.S. 10k this weekend just doesn't sound that far now.

I was so motivated last night after our run, I went to register for the Goof, figuring if I could run through what we did, I surely could train to run in good weather. When I went to the website to register for the Goofy, I found out that it is full. It is hard to believe that in just over a month that it was full. I have registered to do the full marathon. Bill has registered for the Goofy as he was determined to do it and also he is an eager beaver. I will run the full with him and help him out if he needs it, but possibly I will be the one who will need the help (HAHAHA).

Wow, the Goofy sure did sell out fast. You are wise to register for the full while you still have the chance, Sue! Good for you. I am sure you will do great at it!

I am looking forward to my first full marathon. I am hoping that you guys are training for something at that time so that I will be able to continue to have someone to run with.
