Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that Mom (Carole) and I rocked and rolled in the Arizona frost this morning! It was perfect weather for the Canadian contingent. The race temp started at about 27F (brrr!) so it was good that the sun was out for the entire race. We are awaiting our official results but the watch clocked it at just over 2:30 (hopefully). Not matter what, the race was a good one for the both of us who decided 6 weeks ago to complete the challenge. Hope everyone has recovered from Disney and I look forward to running with you all soon!

Jennifer and Carole :-)

Glad to hear from you Jennifer!  I was watching you two on the live tracking -- which seemed to get stuck between Carole coming over the finish line and you finishing.  It took a long time for your results to come up!  Sandy will slap me for saying this, but you were so lucky to have a cold day for your race.  Is it always cool like that there, or was this unusual?  Just curious.... if it is a cooler run, maybe I will have to head down there one day and try it.

You girls are amazing, running a half with only six weeks preparation!  Enjoy your recovery period!

Congratulations Jennifer!  The cool temperatures certainly make it easier to run well and get closer to your goal time.  Would you do this one again?

Congrats Carole and Jennifer,
Wow a half with only 6 wks of training, you girls really do rock!  So was the race everything that the ads in Runner's World show it to be?  I'm always curious about new races, and since I seem to plan out my vacations around races rolleyes, just wondered how this one measured up.

Hi Jane, Sandy and Janet,

You are all right-the cooler weather definitely makes for optimal running conditions! The weather conditions over the last 3 days have broken records for lows from 20 years ago. I think the race was a nice one...not 100% sure that I would rush back to do it again next year. The marathon and half marathon finish in different places (same stadium but different sides) so it would be hard to rush over to catch someone finishing. My particular problem was that the marathoners received Doritos and cookies at the finish and there was nothing sweet for those doing the half. Remember...the race is all about the food. Water stations had Accelerade and water, no food at all on the course. There were salt packets at the start but I did not see any on the course. It is a course built for speed-flat with a slight incline between mile 9 and 10 so would be great for anyone looking for a PB. Medals are great and the bands are always a big hit. Stay warm.

Jennifer, either your Mother has been teaching you well, or else you have a natural tendency to really fit in well with our group!  We have joked that we are an eating group that runs.  And our long runs on the weekend have a ritual of a trip to Tim's afterwards.  We have been known to have a longer coffee time than we spend running!

By the way, your photos are up at Asi Orders.  This is a great one of the two of you together!
