Now that 2006 is drawing to a close, what special plans do our members have for 2007?  Are you planning on working on your speed, completing a farther distance, entering a new territory (like trying a tri), entering a new race?  So other than the "big event" that many are entered into the first weekend of 2007, what other plans are there?  Just keep in mind -- if you say them out loud, then you are committed to doing them!   wink

One new event that Heather and I want to do is the Forest City Half Marathon in London on 13 May.  Hopefully my parents will be around and will be able to be there to see their daughter and granddaughter come over the finish line.  I wouldn't mind trying one other different run to enter next year -- maybe a trail run in the summer time if the bugs aren't too bad.  I see that Rattlesnake one that Dave did is being held on 14 July next year.  And there is a Mono Cliffs run on 11 Aug next year.  So maybe one of those.  I really like several of the runs that I have done for the past few years, and will probably do most of them again.  Okay, so I am in a rut!  But I just can't NOT do ATB, Wolfe Island, Longboat, Sandbanks, and most importantly Run for the Toad!

I am thinking I might want to work on my speed a bit again this year and get my times back to where they were a couple of years ago.  It would be nice by the end of the year to run a half marathon in close to two hours (over two hours, not under!).  In an effort to improve my running performance, I am going to attempt to get more sleep at night and also work on my core by instituting some sort of a weight program!

So.....   there's mine!

Great post!!

lets see...

run my first 1/2 - in Ottawa on May 27 weekend - hopefully with my sister in law - (if i can get her back into the running mode!).
and then run the 1/2 at PEC with my Tri and Run friends!
oh..and go for a 'real' trail run or more!

other than that I'd also like to work on my core and upper body a bit more regularly (which wouldn't be hard - since i do almost nothing now!)
and..
drink more water...  I KNOW that either helps make or break my runs, but i don't seem to do well to keep drinking it!

Those are mine...

Hmmm,
Running goals.  I'm not sure whether I should set any goals or just fly by the seat of my pants!  Last year I don't think I actually reached any of my goals, but I had a lot of fun trying and that's why I run.  I did finish the Toad and get an awesome medal for it, so I guess I did reach a goal.
For this year I have my sights set on completing a tri with Heather (her first, yippee), and am setting my sights on a half ironman.  So those seem like enough for now.  Oh yeah, have fun running and hanging out with all my running pals. headphones

My two big goals are to complete my first tri with Janet and Around the Bay in 30K.

I would also like to improve my swimming, strengthen my core and upper body more than it is now and learn how to do proper push ups and work my way up to 10 in a row.
