Good for you coming in first Paul!!   Such an accomplishment for you.   It's hard to believe you loved every step of that race though.   I struggled every step of the way but it was definitely worth it.   I loved coming over the finish line and the feeling of accomplishment to be able to run it for the second time.   I ran behind my daughter Meghan,  this was her first 1/2 marathon.  I was sure proud of her to be able to run it in 1:42,  she came in first for her age group. (not that I am bragging or anything!!)

Congratulations to all of you -- it sounds like you all had a great race!!  Good for you!  Meghan, way to go on the 1st place in your age group finish!

By the way Paul, welcome to our website!!  I did some snooping and see that you are from Frankford.  You should join our group for a run sometime.  How do you feel about trails?   cool

Ijust wanted to say, sorry for not being clear enough about my finnish results. It was apersonal win for me, not a first place. First half marathon, first race of any kind. As for my place in the reults 63of65 in 40-49 mens. Im still happy with that. Part of what it means for me is going from nonrunner in March to half marathon in October. Ithink thats fast. The start of a new way of life.

I understood what you meant, Paul.  That is awesome - from a couch potato in March to a half-marathon man in October.....

Hope you will join us for some running some weekend.  You should try some trail running -- you haven't lived till you've run through mud and gotten soakers!

What do you mean "I'm still happy with that"?

You have even more reason to be proud.  Do you know how long it took me to go from non-runner to half marathon?  I'll tell you, 12 years.  And you're over 40?  I'm not even 40 yet and am starting to question how much longer I can keep this up.  What you did in 7 months is amazing.  That is more than I could ever hope to accomplish.  Thanks for clearing that up, you're an even greater example of what you can do if you set your mind to it (at least in my mind) than I thought.

Congratulations again,

Hey Paul,
Way to go!  That was a pretty bold move, never having run a race before, and picking a half marathon for your first!  You should just be darn proud of yourself, and still giving yourself pats on the back, and remember it's never "just" a half. wink
