To all those going to PEC this weekend, good running.  Few last minute reminders.
1) Take your time, the race won't be won in the first 3 kms, but it can be lost there if you go out too fast.
2) Enjoy the day.  You've done the training, this is just the celebration of your completion of all that hard work.  The race is the easy part.
3) Take lots of liquids, but don't forget about electrolytes.
4) No raisin bran.  Enough said.
5) Cheer on the fans.  Some of those people will stand and clap for hours just to make perfect strangers feel better.  Do your part to return the favour.
6) Thank the people at the aid stations.  I know your mother taught you manners, what better time to use them?
7) Don't overdress.  By the end of TWF everyone I saw was caked in salt, but too many people were wearing long sleeves and long pants.  Almost every day I can remember gets warmer as you approach noon.  Sunday will as well.
8) Start eating as soon as you finish.  Your muscles will recover faster if they're properly nurished within 2 hours of finishing, and the first half hour is the most important.
9) Remember, you are strong enough to do this.  Don't let that negative voice inside convince you to slow down or stop, you can do this.
10) Smile, it takes less energy than frowning, and you'll look better in all those pictures.

Congratulations on making it to the start.  You've invested countless hours and miles to get to this point, enjoy it.  There's nothing to worry about now, so don't waste your energy on worrying.

Good running,
Mike

Regret nothing, even the bad parts contributed to your arrival in this spot, and if dirt is down, then you're still winning.  Keep racing.

Good luck to everyone running this weekend.  For those of you doing the PEC, I'll be cheering you on from my water station at the 34 km mark.
