Nope, I am not going, but Heather's friend, Stacy is going too.  I will be in Montreal running up Mount Royal that morning.  I will be thinking of all of them!  Have a great time everyone and don't eat TOO MUCH ice cream!

You can let me know tomorrow!!  Don't get tummy aches!!

I hope you get the cool weather we are having here in Montreal!  Although I think it goes in the opposite direction.  We had to put on fleece hoodies and jeans this evening!  It would be good running weather for a race.  I think I may freeze tomorrow morning when I run up Mount Royal in my shorts and sleeveless top though!   huh

Since this thread was already started I am posting my report here.  I am so confused ....... It seemed like a good spot and that Admin Guy can move me if I am wrong so here you have it:

Well that was a delightful run just as it was last year except there was one more feature this year.  I had company.  Petra, Heather, Adam and Stacy joined me this morning and that made it so much more enjoyable. We became a team almost overnight and were called Trenton Trail Trash.  Next year we will have to work a bit harder on our costume.  We left bright and early and were on the 401 in a flash.  The car was filled with chitter and the time flew by and we were soon at the Rec Complex in Lindsay .  We got our race kits complete with shirts and the big disappointment was no bib?s for us.  I asked and they just said ?technical difficulties?.  Now there were lots of other people with bibs and even teams  with bibs because we thought at first that it was just the teams that didn?t receive one but that was not the case.  It will remain a mystery.

After a bit of wandering through the sale racks they had and making my first purchase of the day we had our bathroom break then proceeded to make several trips back and forth to the car disposing of stuff and just generally being silly.  9 ?clock came very quickly and the start of the race.  It wasn?t long before I could feel Petra gradually slipping away from me so not much  longer either she was just a butt to watch from afar.  What a smooth steady stride she had as she trodded into unknown territory.

The run took us through a bit of the campus (Sir Sandford Fleming) and then after a few turns out to the main road of Lindsay but we headed out of town and not into it.  Then up into what last year was farm country with nary a house to be seen.  This year there were several new ones to look at. Most of this section of the route was on a slight upward grade.  No hills to speak of.  I had a good stride going and the k?s just seem to fly by.  Before we knew it we were at 5k receiving our times from some nice gentleman with a watch.  That and the fact that there were several water stations and no cars to fend with for the full 10k was a real delight.  Knowing what time you had at 5k helped in the decisions to speed up or slow down if anyone desired.  (I am sure the latter didn?t happen much) .

By the 7k mark I decided that I would have a gel and had a walk while doing it and a good drink. I did not have my orthos so my outside right calf was getting tired and my instep felt like it was stretched like a tight rubber band.  The walk just gave it enough of a rest to feel better.  At this point Adam, Heather and Stacy joined me.  They were having a great day.  I will let them tell their own stories though.  Then it was off for the last 3k?s.

Somehow I lost the 8k  marker and the next thing I knew the 9k marker showed up and everyone was running into friends and family that had been doing the 5k run so there was excitement all round.  Wasn?t long and the finish timer was insight and time to stretch my legs.  I heard someone, later realized it was Adam , say something about the 1 hour mark.  Couldn?t see the time myself as I didn?t have my glasses on so  I didn?t know what way the time was or might have I ran harder.  But just before the mats I was nearly scared to death by Adam.  Boy he can run.  I think we need to have him run between the bunches of us and just talk to us all or take pictures or supply water or something.  He is fast.  Then across the finish we went and wet cold towels were draped around us.  Petra spotted us and was extremely excited that we were all finished and especially excited about her time.  (Petra?s Story, which I am sure will come later) and then we were off to the main reason we came to this race.  The ice cream.

I knew from last year that the food here was great.  They had a live bank as well.  And who of us can tell me the name?  They had fresh made bagles from the Kawartha Wholesale Bakery, Tim?s timbits,  cheese tray with spreads, vegetable trays loaded with celery and carrots etc, grapes, yogurt,  chocolate milk and regular milk and probably 5 flavours of ice cream.  So we booked our free massage, ate, listened to the music then the awards as we got our massages and ate some more.  Stacy won a real cute hat.  Petra made a purchase from the same racks I got mine at and then we were off for our not too long trip home just as the rain started there.  By the way I forgot to mention earlier that the weather was almost picture perfect for a race.  Several of the streets offered shade as well as a sprinkler to run threw.

Thanks everyone for joining me today.  I had a great time and if we do it next year we have lots of time to come up with ideas for both names (although I liked ours this year) and what we are wearing as well as recruiting more people to join us.

That was a simply great race report, Cathy!  Thanks for writing it!  Next year I will be there for this run with you guys!  You just sound like you had so much fun!  So how did they know who you were if you didn't have race numbers?  That is so strange!!

It sounds like you all had an amazing race.  I commented on Petra's time in the other thread -- I am glad I am moving up in age categories and she won't be joining me for a couple of years.  It gives me time to train to get as speedy as her!   Although I did run with a couple of Montreal runners this morning and they were speedy!

Anyhow, way to go girls (and guy!).  I like the photos of the results, Adam!  Great idea!!

It was really an enjoyable run and as I said especially this year because of the company.  The ice cream was certainly secondary.  I didn't even eat any.   angel

I really enjoyed this race!  Too bad my Mom had to miss out on it?  sad

Adam and I started out our morning by making our stop at Tim?s for our early morning breakfast and then stopping to meet Stacey and then on to pick up Petra.  We met Cathy at the carpool and then off we went to Lindsay.  It was a little cool but the sun was shining.  Great weather for a race? my type of running weather!  It was a pretty fast ride there... Cathy and Petra saw a deer on the side of the 401 but we missed it because we were talking so much.  Got to Lindsay with about 45 minutes or so until the race start.  We got all of our gear on?We made a quick break for the bathrooms? there was quite the line up so we tried to use the ones out on the rink where noone knew there were bathrooms and a volunteer suggested we use the men?s but that didn?t work out sooo great? Ooops! Found a man!

We stood around for a bit and listened to the band (Flashback) that was playing and then they announced that the wheelchair race would be starting which we never did see?  Before we knew it? we were off!  This was the most organized race I have ever seen? so many volunteers? so many water stations (one every kilometer and a half or less, starting at 2.5K) I believe there were five stations? so many police officers at least two on every corner and there were a lot of intersections!  I found the race went quite fast? As Stacey said, I had my groove on.  I had a really good race and I felt I did not struggle a whole lot.  Just after the third water station, spectators had a sprinkler put out for us to run through? Boy did I appreciate that even though it wasn?t extremely hot? It was still refreshing?

We passed the 5K mark at 30:27? We could see Cathy in the distance for the whole run which was neat?  We caught up to her as she was having a gel and then she took off again? Boy was she boogying! Great run, Cathy!  Before we knew it, we were at the 8K mark?  And over a small hill we went and we could see the finish line from about the 9K mark!  Seeing the finish line was very motivating and we sped up and almost caught up to Cathy? Adam and his long legs took off to run over the finish line with her at 1:00:24... Stacey and I both setting PB?s at 1:00:32!!!  Stacey taking 6 minutes off her first 10K time!  She did awesome!!!  Adam did great as always? he is just a natural!  We will have to find something more challenging for him!  Congrats, Adam!!!  I was also thrilled with my time? a PB!!!  Next my goal is under 1 hour!

At the end of race, we met Petra who did amazing, crossing the finish line at 56:22!!! Congratulations, Petra!!!  We all grabbed an ice cold towel and headed for the ice cream and refreshments!  After we had a little bit of refreshments, we went over to the massage both to reserve a spot?  Didn?t have to wait long which was great? Stacey had her first taste of a massage which she thoroughly enjoyed? We watched some of the awards but missed most of them while having our massage? Stacey ended up getting a nice hat? We had a few more refreshments and even brought some home... Overall, it was a great day!  I would definitely recommend this race to anyone? we were certainly spoiled!

Only complaint is there were no bibs? I keep each bib from every race so I can write my time on it? Oh well!  At least we had timing chips!

I want to thank Cathy for inviting us and being our chauffeur for the day!  I will definitely be there again with you next year!!!

Great race report ladies, (and pictures from Adam laugh, with a short report), sounds like you all had a great time, and with ice cream at the finish, that makes it even better, Petra just think how fast you would have been if it had been chocolate (56 and change is an awesome time).  Glad to hear the rest of you had some PB's in there and just enjoyed yourselfs.
